Richardson Chamber wins Texas Workforce Excellence Award for its Job Fair program

Other participants that were there included state organizations like the Texas Dept. of Public Safety and the Texas National Guard; several job organizations including Career DFW, Delta Dallas, and Volt Workforce Solutions; and retailers such as Raising Cane’s, Taco Bueno, QuikTrip, Family Video, Corner Bakery, Wells Fargo Bank, and BB&T Bank.
The job fair saw over 650 job seekers attend and afforded them the opportunity to meet many company representatives and present their resumes in person.
The
Workforce Solutions estimates that at least 10% of the job seekers will find jobs via this type of outreach. Using that percentage and having attracted more than 3,000 job seekers in the past 3 years, it is estimated that the Richardson Job Fair will have resulted in the hiring more than 300 people!
In April of 2011, the Texas Economic Development Council (TEDC) named the Richardson Chamber the winner of TEDC’s annual Workforce Excellence Award (for cities with 40,000 to 100,000 pop.) for the Chamber’s Job Fair program.
