Alamo Drafthouse DFW opens its doors in Richardson

Aug 15, 2013

The wait has come to an end – Alamo Drafthouse DFW is open
for business!

The Austin-based dinner-and-movie chain theater opened its
doors Thursday, August 8 after a formal ribbon cutting ceremony led by the
Richardson Chamber of Commerce.

President and CEO of the Richardson
Chamber of Commerce Bill Sproull, City Manager Dan Johnson and Mayor Laura Maczka gave
opening remarks to congratulate Alamo Drafthouse founder Tim League and COO of
Alamo Drafthouse DFW Bill DiGaetano on Dallas- Ft. Worth’s first Alamo
Drafthouse theater.

Prior to the ribbon cutting, League and DiGaetano cut off
the top of a champagne bottle with a Bowie knife – an Alamo Drafthouse
tradition. They then unveiled a giant robot hand, the “Alamobot”, as a tribute
to Richardson’s mid-century
architecture and roots in the technology industry.
