Members of the Dallas-Fort Worth broker community attended
the Richardson Broker-Developer lunch in a fun, non-traditional setting August
14. Nearly 100 brokers gathered at Alamo Drafthouse to hear a panel of
architects speak about trends in real estate design.

The program, titled “Architects take the mic: an insider’s
perspective on real estate design,” included panelists Evan Beattie of Good
Fulton & Farrell, John Giesler of Retail Street Advisors, David Quenemoen
of Page and Charlie Reagan of Alliance Architects. Each panelists spoke about
what trends are developing in their respective area of expertise. The panel
presentation covered multi-family, retail, corporate office and data centers.

 

One of the most interesting discussions of the presentation
was in regards to the threat of increasing traffic in DFW. An audience member
asked what can be expected with traffic along U.S. 75 when Richardson’s
CityLine development on George Bush Turnpike and Plano Rd. is complete.

Panelist Evan Beattie tackled the question by suggesting
that as the DFW area skyrockets in population the next several years, we must
adapt to the increase by developing more walkable and livable communities. Richardson’s
CityLine development, located on a  DART Red Line stop, is a prime example of an all-in-one live,
work and play community. In addition to the corporate offices anchored by State
Farm and Raytheon, the development will include multi-family housing, a Whole
Foods grocery store, several restaurant and retail establishments, and parks
and running trails so that residents are less dependant on vehicles to take
them places.

 

The program was moderated by Broker-Developer Tri-Chair Bill
Guthrey of KDC Real Estate Development and Investments, who also sponsored the
