EDGE awards recognize outstanding companies, individuals and projects.
The City of Richardson, Richardson Chamber of Commerce and Richardson Rotary Clubs are excited to announce the 2019 Economic Development, Growth and Expansion (EDGE) Award recipients, who will be honored during a special luncheon on Thursday, Nov. 14.
For 37 years, these groups have recognized deserving Richardson businesses, individuals and projects with these awards program.
This year’s honorees have meaningfully contributed to Richardson’s continued economic prosperity through significant local investments, said John Jacobs, executive vice president of the Richardson Economic Development Partnership.
EDGE Award winners include:
- Commercial Real Estate Project: Parc Northeast – The first Richardson light industrial building development in 20 years.
- Community Involvement Award: GEICO – A significant community supporter, including as a major sponsor and annual participant in the Richardson Corporate Challenge.
- Community Service Award: Ann and Charles Eisemann – Long-time community philanthropists who supported Richardson’s first inclusive playground and established the Eisemann Edge Endowment Fund.
- Entrepreneurship Award: Hedera Hashgraph – The first Richardson company in decades to raise more than $100 million in venture capital.
- Environmental Award: Jefferson Reserve Apartments – A multi-family development thoughtfully designed to protect and improve two pioneer cemeteries where some of Richardson’s earliest settlers are found.
- International Business Award: E4D Technologies – The first tenant at Richardson’s new Parc Northeast development, where it has signed a long-term lease.
- Newcomer Business Award: DXC Technology Co. – The lead tenant in Richardson’s newest office building, 3400 at CityLine.
- Redevelopment Award: Tod Fobare – Responsible for redeveloping the former Ericsson USA headquarters, transforming an aging warehouse into a showcase office space and the 100-acre, former Collins Radio campus into a data center park.
- Richardson Loyalty Award: Dentsply Sirona – Recently elected to expand its Richardson operations, with plans to create more than 200 new jobs by 2021.
- Education: Liz Wetherington — initiated a Readers are Leaders summer program, hosting city officials, civil servants, and local leaders coming to over a dozen McDonalds locations in the Richardson areas to read to underprivileged youth.
