Fossil Inc.

Aug 1, 2010

Fossil Inc. was started in 1984 by Richardson Berkner High School graduates Tom and Kosta Kartsotis, as the first American brand to bring value and style to the watch category. In the 1990’s Fossil expanded its core business, launching a line of accessory products including handbags, belts, small leather goods and sunglasses. Fossil had its IPO and became a publicly-held company (FOSL:NASDAQ) in 1993. In the late 1990’s the City of Richardson collaborated with Fossil to create a Foreign Trade Sub-Zone at their Richardson location to support their business model of offshore manufacture and on-shore packaging and distribution. Today, Fossil operates over 200 retail stores and outlet stores in the U.S. and 126 accessory retail stores, 11 multi-brand stores, and 16 outlet stores internationally. The $1.5 billion revenue company is headquartered in Richardson.
