CityLine, the mammoth mixed-use project in Richardson that will be home to State Farm and Raytheon, has signed Look Cinemas as its major entertainment anchor.
The planned 60,000-square-foot upscale dining and entertainment complex will be freestanding and located on the corner of State Street and Plano Road. That includes about 5,000 square feet for Look’s new restaurant concept called Ivy Kitchen.
It will have 12-screens outfitted with recliner and luxury seating and will include four dine-in theaters.
Look Cinemas has “a great concept, great execution and a great presentation,” said Colin Fitzgibbons, a vice president with KDC, the CityLine developer. “It’s a perfect fit.”
While CityLine expects to sign more tenants in the entertainment category, this will be the largest in terms of square feet, Fitzgibbons said.
Walt Mountford, an executive vice president with KDC, called Look Cinemas “a premier venue that offers a unique movie-going and dining experience.”
Being part of such a large development, at the busy intersection of Centeral Expressway and the George Bush Turnpike “gives us a very natural base” to draw from, said Tom Stephenson, co-founder and chief executive of Look Cinemas.
“Four million square feet,” he said, referring to the current and later phases of the CityLine project. “That’s like building a new city. We’re really excited. It’s just a terrific opportunity.”
Construction on Look Cinemas CityLine is expected to start in May 2015 with a grand opening in May 2016.
This will only be the second Look location. The first, at Beltline Road and Prestonwood Boulevard, opened with a Nick and Sam’s Grill attached. That restaurant will be replaced by the first Ivy Kitchen, Stephenson said. Ivy was developed with Vic Barnstetter, co-founder of Houston’s chain.
In late 2015, the $600 million, 2.3 million-square-foot initial phase of CityLine construction is slated for completion. It includes a contemporary 150-room select service hotel; 935 apartment units; and an 18,000-square-foot wellness and fitness facility.
