Methodist Richardson Medical Center has expedited plans and started construction on its $85 million expansion project. It will build its third cardiac catheterization lab at the center as well as a new parking garage.
According to Methodist Richardson, it sped up construction plans due to “an increased volume for specialized and acute care services” in the area. It will add two patient floors with 150 patient rooms, a surgical operating room, and a 500-space parking garage.
The medical center, which opened in April of 2014, is currently a 191-bed acute care hospital.
Methodist Richardson President Ken Hutchenrider Jr. says the facility is more than seven years ahead of its projected growth schedule. “We are expanding to better serve our communities that have experienced tremendous population growth, and we are thrilled to be their trusted healthcare provider,” he said in a statement.
Construction on the catheterization lab is expected to be completed by early fall. The garage is expected to be completed early next year.
