Raytheon  breaks ground on their campus in Richardson’s CityLine development. The three-building, 489,000-square-foot facility will house about 1,700 employees.

Construction has started on another huge office complex in Richardson – this time for Raytheon Corp.

Richardson-based tech firm XPS Solutions Ltd. plans to double its headquarters as it relocates within the Richardson city limits.

Bill Foley, Director of Operations for Raytheon, spoke to a sold-out crowd at the Richardson Chamber of Commerce Growth & Mobility luncheon May 14. He told the crowd of mostly business development professionals that Raytheon selected Richardson and CityLine because the new location supports a young, technical workforce.

Restaurant and retail activity in Richardson is off to a great start in 2014. Momentum and excitement due to CityLine and other new projects continues to grow, and interest from prospective tenants has never been stronger.

Through the first third of the year, completed Richardson expansion and relocation projects doubled the average four-month output of new or retained jobs and real estate occupancy for the previous five years.

As State Farm prepares to move into the CityLine development, the buildings they currently occupy is up for sale. The lease for State Farm’s three buildings of the 800,000 squar-foot Galatyn Park development expires in 2016 and 2018. Dallas-based investor Champion Parnters is selling the buildings and HFF LP are marketing them for sale.

U.S. & Foreign Commercial Service Deputy Assistant Secretary Antwaun Griffin awarded Mike Skelton, Director of the Mayor’s Office of International Business for the Richardson Economic Development Partnership, a Certificate of Achievement on April 1 in the U.S. & Foreign Commercial Service Ft. Worth office.
