Capital Commercial Investments Inc., an Austin-based real estate investor, has bought the Turnpike Commons building in the Telecom Corridor from high-tech firm Cisco Systems.

REDP recently hired Danielle Snyder as a summer Economic Development Marketing Intern.

REDP is investing in a talent attraction campaign this year to attract young, tech-savvy to live in Richardson and work for one of many companies recruiting STEM talent. This initiative will have two components: a comprehensive labor study and a marketing attraction campaign.

Restaurant activity in Richardson is at an unprecedented level this year with announcements at CityLine, CityLine Market, W. Campbell Corridor, Coit Road Corridor and the long-awaited Richardson Restaurant Park on S. Central Expressway.  

Last year, Richland College received a $449,988 Skills Development Fund Grant from the Texas Workforce Commission to train Associa employees on-site at their new Richardson location, and since then over 200 employees have completed 35 classes through the grant. Surprisingly, less than 5% of Richardson companies know of grants such as these, targeted specifically to assist businesses in job training and furthering their employees’ education.

Since the beginning of 2015, the Mayor’s Office of International Business has conducted 26 meetings with foreign delegations, trade organizations and international companies.

The RealPage project put an exclamation point, or maybe several, on the first half economic development activity for Richardson’s Telecom Corridor® area.
