Hitachi opens “4G” facility in Richardson

Hitachi Communication Technologies America Inc. has opened a new facility in Richardson’s Telecom Corridor. The operation will focus on developing network infrastructure support for what’s known as the fourth generation of mobile communications, or “4G.”

Richardson One of 15 Government-Heavy (and Recession-Resistant) Cities

It’s been said that if there’s one type of job that’s recession proof, it’s a government job. After all, spending by federal and state governments tends to go up in recessions, and that’s been especially true with President Obama’s stimulus response. But it’s not exactly true that government jobs are recession proof. Government employment growth has slowed to a trickle: According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, government employment has added an average of about 5,000 workers a month over the past year. In June, the government sector actually lost 52,000 jobs.

AT&T signs lease for Richardson building

The Dallas-based communications giant is renting more than 200,000 square feet of space – all of the seven-story building at 2270 Lakeside Blvd. just east of North Central Expressway.

G Systems moving its offices from Plano to Richardson

G Systems has leased office space in Richardson for its headquarters.
Laughlin Commercial Realty Group said that the engineering services and systems company leased 17,000 square feet of office space at 1240 East Campbell Road from Kennington Capital. The company was previously located in Plano.

Richardson nabs Texas Capital

The Dallas-based bank signed an 11-year lease for 80,000 square feet at 2350 Lakeside Blvd. ­— one of the largest office leases in the city in more than a year. Texas Capital plans to move into the space in early June.

BusinessWeek magazine recently ranked the City of Richardson second in the state of Texas as the best, most affordable place to raise children. The magazine partnered with OnBoard Informatics, a Manhattan-based provider of real estate analysis, to determine each state’s best affordable cities for raising children.

REDP Receives Honorable Mention at Economic Development Conference

Acknowledging the Richardson Economic Development Partnership (REDP) for its innovative entrepreneurship-based program, the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) recognized the Richardson, Texas-based entity with an Honorable Mention at IEDC’s Annual Conference, which took place in Atlanta, Georgia, October 19-22. The organization was noticed for this achievement during an awards ceremony on Tuesday, October 21st.
